It's that time of year already? The Allotment Shop opened its doors for the first time this year on Saturday and we went up to get our first veg of the year: Potatoes.
We went for first earlies and main crop so as we can eat them for a longer time during the year. Bargain price and supporting our shop too!
The Pots are currently chitting themselves (HO HO) in egg boxes in the lean to. Roll on Spring.

Bonfire and a Happy New Year!
Both monkeys at school for a morning, warm blue sky day in JANUARY and Neil without pressing deadlines - hooray! Neil and I popped to the plot to build a fire and get on with some serious tidying and composting. The dump sells 'Warrior Compost' (presumably pretty strong stuff) and we bagged some for £2 and dug it into a bed.
Neil actually MADE a fire (his first!!!) and it did indeed burn. Happy days. We managed to clear loads of debris and wheeled loads of mulch up from the bottom of the site up the hill to our plot. The mulch was chipped up Christmas trees and will be very useful in stopping weeds.
As it's not really planting season, we haven't got much on the go. Neil picked Sammy up from Pre-School and after much excitement at the fire, they planted some Daffodils around the tree to make the first signs of Spring in a couple of months look pretty. Yipee.
Neil most disappointed I had no camera for photographic evidence of an actual real MAN fire but it did really happen. Promise.
