Fire!

We had friends for the weekend and had taken the children to Blashford Lakes on Saturday for an afternoon of camp fire and shelter building aswell as making their own bread and cooking it. Neil referred to Ranger Jim on his return, the man who taught them how to get a fire going. They had a fab time and didn't stop talking about it. Anyway after our friends went back to London today, we went up the allotment in an attempt to light a fire. Ranger Jim would be proud.

It all looked good, the kindling had been sourced and sorted and away we went. Lou lit the match, smoke came and we watched and waited and the smoke went. Our last match and again the smoke went! But nevermind the wood must have been damp. We will try again another day, it was fun to try!

We planted some more shallots and watered our pots of sweetpeas and did some more digging. All this was too much for Lou who fell over, cried a lot and after a lot of cuddling fell asleep under a plum tree! Sweet! We can see some parsley shoots already and I only planted them last week. They will do well to survive two monkey boys trampling over them despite my attempts at teaching them to keep OFF the soil.......until they see a plant there they run all over. Daffodils are growing and the boys may have even found a few chocolate eggs hiding amongst the leaves, don't remember planting those...............
