Nanny and BB

Great day on the allotment front. Nanny and BB came to help whilst Louis went to his best buds birthday party. For two whole hours in the sunshine we weeded and dug and watered, Oh and Sammy played hide the dinosaurs and ate lots of chocolate biscuits. Daddy is on cricket tour and we thought of him when we weeded around squarecrow Jack's feet, which are wearing old cricket shoes where the toe has been cut out on the bowlers shoe!

I weeded around the onions and found how lovely they can look standing alone without being overwhelmed by everything. Mum used the long hoe to weed around the small carrot tops and Dad dug over a big patch which we will plant up with sweetcorn soon. The boys love corn on the cob so worth a go. Dad will probably be hurting tomorrow, he dug a lot and it looks great. No photographic evidence but thanks Dad. Mum probably doesn't want to play hide the dinosaur again for a while, it was hot work!

The courgettes are spreading their wide leaves but the beans don't look too strong just yet. I wonder if it may be too dry for them up there. A neighbouring plot owner talked to me today about the dry soil and I don't think it will get any better seeing as we near the top of the hill. I will have to make sure I water every other day. Anyhow a great day and made much easier with help, so thank you Nanny and BB x
