spring has sprung

Been a bit slack on the old blog, have been up to the allotment a couple of times and been sorting stuff out. Beautiful blue sky days have meant we have been thinking about our planting year ahead. We planted some first early potatoes in tyres and weeded around the raspberry canes (despite looking dead there are some signs of leaves and life). We popped up today with Sammy after Pre-School and everything needed a good water, so so dry at the moment.

A week ago we visited and found a huge pile of compost in our plot with a sign saying"please help yourself". Very kind anonymous donor and yes we have and it's good stuff!!

We are planning on pumpkins again (boys LOVED them for Halloween), courgettes, carrots, butternut squash and potatoes so far. We may run out of room for green beans. Must get a bigger plot! All in all a very exciting time in the allotment year, warm weather, chirping birds and much enthusiasm from every Smith family member. Long may it last.......
